Clonmel’s Toy Library with Zero Waste Marketplace

We are thrilled to announce that Clonmel’s Toy Library is launching on Saturday next, 25th February.⁠

After many months of talking about it, we are finally ready to go! ??⁠
⁠
The Toy Library will run in conjunction with Clonmel’s Repair Café & will take place on the last Saturday of every month from 11.30 am to 1.30 pm at the Zero Waste Shop/Clonmel Organic Growers, Anglesea Street (behind Denis Lacy Hall). 
Clonmel’s very first Toy Library enables families to borrow and not buy sustainably sourced toys for their children. Let’s share toys with others and help keep toys in circulation in Tipperary. ?⁠

A recent study found that up to 47% of parents say their children grew tired of a new toy after just one week plus 80% of children’s toys end up in landfill or in the sea after being used for an average of six months. Due to the mix of materials used in toys, they are difficult to recycle. Users can borrow up to three toys, puzzles, or games for up to one month at a time. ⁠

Running alongside this Clonmel Repair Café, an initiative that aims to serve the Clonmel and surrounding community by inviting people to repair and renovate their clothing, electronics, and household items. There is potential to learn new skills in a collaborative way as members can swap tips and repair skills. We intend to host the repair sessions in a relaxed café- style environment, where people can meet friends and learn new skills all at once.⁠
