Welcome to Earthy Notices!

What are Earthy Notices?

Looking to volunteer or find a new job with a conscious business or local farm? Maybe you're interested in getting involved with a conscious/environmental charity, NGO, or not-for-profit group or organisation. Earthy Notices is the place where our Conscious Community Members let the public know when they’re in search of volunteers or hiring for particular roles within their establishment. We believe that there is currently no other place in Ireland where you can go to find specifically local, sustainable, and/or plant-based jobs and volunteering roles all together in one place! So we decided to go straight to the source and give TEM businesses as well as our Earthy Friends that space to advertise collectively as a community! Why not take 'supporting local' to the next level and muck in with your nearest farmer, get active with your favourite local environmental group, or maybe even nab yourself a position at the local zero-waste store who knows?

Let's check out what's currently available:

Volunteer with Flossie and the Beach Cleaners!

Flossie and the Beach Cleaners is a registered marine environmental charity and an ever-growing group of marine enthusiasts. We are passionate about saving our seas and sea creatures from the ravages of plastic pollution. Through regular fun beach cleaning, junior and senior school workshops, and clean-up events, we aim to do what we can to make a real difference whilst educating our children in a fun stress-free way. This is their future and we believe that with positivity and focused action, our oceans and sea life can continue to flourish.

We’re always in need of volunteers to help out with beach cleans across Ireland. If you have more time to dedicate, we are also looking for marine coordinators who will lead monthly clean-up activities in their local areas and also help out with bigger annual events. As you know, we need all hands on deck in order to tackle the plastic problem and protect our marine life from it!

We're looking for committee members to help with all things Cork Zero Waste!!

About us:

Cork Zero Waste is a group of volunteers working to make Cork a more zero waste and sustainable city through events and educational resources. We are looking for committed volunteers to join our committee. We need people who can attend our (usually) monthly meetings, help manage and create content for the social media pages and website, plan/organise events and of course help out at events! This is a voluntary group, without any funding, so we run it in our spare time.

Looking for:

You don't need any experience volunteering or specialist knowledge in climate change or sustainability, just an interest in getting involved! We’re also totally up for any new zero waste/sustainable ideas, events, campaigns, etc that you might have in mind - we aim to be a collaborative, community group.

Simply, we've done some cool things in the past and want to find people who can help us do more in the future!

The KWWSPCA and all their furry friends are in search of volunteers!

Would you like to become a volunteer at the KWWSPCA Animal Shelter?

We are looking for volunteers to work at the KWWSPCA animal shelter near Athgarvan in Co. Kildare. The work is entirely voluntary, nobody in the KWWSPCA is paid for what they do; the reward comes through the work and the dogs and other animals that are helped. We require hard-working, dependable volunteers who will not let us down, regardless of weather, because our dogs need care every day whether it’s raining, snowing, cold, or, hot. The work is primarily outdoor work and it involves being cold and wet a lot of the time. It is not just walking and cuddling cute dogs. We have dogs of every size and breed, There’s also poop scooping, feeding, and cleaning, and this work is not for the faint-hearted. You need to be fit and strong, have no physical impairments such as back or shoulder issues, you need to be well used to dogs, and have no fear or nervousness around any dogs whether they are big, small, or restricted breed. You should be able to attend on your own, and you should have your own transport as our shelter is not serviced by public transport. You should be over 21 years old, and we are looking for people who are available on weekdays from 8 am to 1 pm, 12.30 pm to 5 pm (and even later in the summertime), or people who are available all day from 8 am to closing time. We do not currently need weekend staff. You should be able to work as part of a team, be prepared to work by the rules and be happy to work under the supervision of the core volunteer on duty. You must be dependable, we need people who will commit to certain days and times, otherwise, we cannot properly function and it is the dogs who end up suffering by being deprived of their walks and basic care. The rewards come in the shape of seeing a dog improve dramatically from the time they come to us, to the time they leave our shelter with their new family. You will feel rewarded with the knowledge that you are part of the team that can make this happen, and that your contribution matters. Do you think you can make this commitment? If so, please complete and return the volunteer application form that you will find HERE
